Fishing Regulations (updated 5/10/2010)

This is a summary of the NYS Fishing Regulations for Keuka Lake.

Persons 16 years old and older are required to have a fishing license.



LAKE TROUT · RAINBOW TROUT · BROWN TROUT · LANDLOCKED SALMON

Season

• All year in Keuka Lake

Daily Limit

• 5 fish in combination(catch shall include no more than 3 lake trout or 3 landlocked salmon)

Minimum Length

• 15 inches for all types



BLACK BASS

Season

• 3rd Saturday in June through March 15th.

Daily Limit

• 5 fish per day

Minimum Length

• 12 inches

Special Season ***

• March 16 through Friday before the 3rd Saturday in June, catch and release fishing is allowed - artificual lures only.



NORTHERN PIKE

Season

• 1st Saturday in May through March 15th

Daily Limit

• 5 fish per day

Minimum Length

• 22 inches



WALLEYE

Season

• 1st Saturday in May through March 15th

Daily Limit

• 3 fish per day

Minimum Length

• 18 inches



PICKEREL

Season

• 1st Saturday in May through March 15th

Daily Limit

• 5 fish per day

Minimum Length

• 15 inches



CRAPPIE

Season

• All year

Daily Limit

• 25 fish per day

Minimum Length

• 9 inches



YELLOW PERCH

Season

• All Year

Daily Limit

• 50 fish per day

Minimum Length

• Any Size



SUNFISH · BLUEGILL · PUMPKINSEED · REDBREAST

Season

• All Year

Daily Limit

• 50 fish per day

Minimum Length

• Any Size

Smelt Dipping

• Anytime(sunset to sunset)

• 8 qts./day:dip net 14in. diameter max



ICE FISHING

Keuka Lake fishing regulations apply to take any species from November 15th through April 30th. 5 tip-ups and 2 hand lines may be used.


KEUKA LAKE TRIBUTARIES

Where

• From the Lake upstream to the first barrier impassable to fish

Species

• Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Brown Trout and Landlocked Salmon

Season

• April 1st through December 31st

Daily Limit

• 3 fish in combination

Minimum Length

• 15 inches for all species


KEUKA LAKE OUTLET

, 5 trout per day, all year, any size with no more than 2 fish longer than 12 inches.

Where

• From Keuka Lake to the first barrier upstream from Seneca Lake

Species

• Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Brown Trout and Landlocked Salmon

Season

• All Year

Daily Limit

• 5 fish in combination

Minimum Length

• Any size (with no more than 2 fish longer than 12 inches)
